چکیده

The monofunctional alkylating agent jV-ethyl-TV-nitrosourea has become known as a highly potent transplacental pulse carcinogen, specifically directed against cells associated with the nervous system. In the present study, the formation of the alkylation product 7-ethylguanine in the nucleic acids of brain and liver of both fetal and adult BD-IX rats (18th day of gestation) was demonstrated by ion-exchange radiochromatography, after administration of jV-ethylW-nitrosourea-l-^C. One hr after i.v. injection of 75 fig of TV-ethyl-W-nitrosourea-l14C/g body weight (~30% of the 50% lethal dose), the

I-40: Non Invasive Prenatal Genetic Diagnosis;Current Status and The Future

Discovery of cell free fetal DNA in 1997 has deeply changed the outlook of prenatal diagnosis approaches as most of the clinically established screening tests are not sensitive/specific enough while the current practical diagnostic tests are also invasive in their nature. The most common prenatal screening test is routinely practiced for the diagnosis of Down syndrome (DS) which includes a 10% ...

Cellular Morphology and Immunologic Properties of Escherichia coli Treated With Antimicrobial Antisense Peptide Nucleic Acid

Background & Objectives: Antisense peptide nucleic acids (PNA) that target growth essential genes show potent bactericidal properties without cell lysis. We considered the possibility that whether PNA treatment influence the bacteria total nucleic acids content and apply approach to develop a new delivery system to Dendritic cells (DCs). DCs are the most potent antigen presenting cells in th...

The nucleic acid content of fetal rat liver.

It has been shown by various investigators that embryonic tissues are richer in nucleic acid than are adult tissues (1). The distribution of the two types of nucleic acids (ribonucleic acid (RNA) and desoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)) is also known to be different in embryonic and adult tissues and in different tissues. For instance, muscle and heart are low in ribonucleic acid concentration, wherea...

Analysis of bases of rat-liver nucleic acids after administration of the carcinogen dimethylnitrosamine.

Dimethylnitrosamine is metabolized to form an alkylating intermediate, which may have significance for its carcinogenic action. However, certain other compounds that are known to be highly mutagenic, including nitrous acid and hydroxylamine, might also be formed. Owing to the general reactivity of these compounds, it would be difficult to detect their formation in the intact animal. Instead, th...
